a ‘paste-in’ for a short anthology piece I’m working on. Tried a couple of times to hit the perspective small but I had to do a blow up to nail it.

While I’m glad Mid Ohio sported attendance it hasn’t seen in quite some time, the fees involved were pretty gouging. Like 50-60% more than the previous year, across the board. It’s a testament to Columbus’ economy that so many people can drop $35 on a one day ticket in a recession. I’ll never know the breakdown of how many people bought the Groupon deal ($10 which is what it should be) to people that dropped almost $40. Or how many people were actually there. I heard the aisles were thinner than the last couple of years.

Media coverage has been amazing but for the rates they’re charging, I would have expected ad space in the local paper. A billboard. TV/ radio ads. Something. Could it be as big as NYCC or San Diego? It’s a goal but I doubt it. It would have to have publishers actually show up. Columbus money is not Hollywood money so San Diego is completely unrealistic. So is sane coverage that doesn’t promote the show as a costumed freak show with Adam West on the bill.

Everyone that I know that tabled there did well and hopefully made back table.

I’m still nostalgic for the days the show was at Easton. That was the best spot. The panels were good. The show fit the space just right and you could bop around yuppie disneyland after the show. Oh and Top Shelf had a booth there every year at Easton. Yeah!
