the big takeover

The Panel 18 anthology rolls out this weekend at the Mid Ohio Con. The show, now under it’s third owner, hopefully going well.
The anthology again delves back into themes of being a teen, coming of age. I’ve been so slammed lately, the only thing I could contribute is the cover above. It’s a completely different experience being a teen, than when I was that age. I didn’t have internet, facebook or a cell phone. My experience being even more isolated, growing up in the rural wasteland of Ohio.
The concept of a high school reunion was foreign to us. Now perhaps obsolete, given you can now fullfill your curiosity on facebook or google. I can look up any of my old classmates with ease. Whether I wanted to know what they’re eating or doing, photos, etc.: it can come up on my feed. Now there’s a crazy function that tracks your location. Yikes.
This is the new reality for teens. The new norm. Still what hasn’t changed is that high school is still a really shitty awkward experience. That will always reign eternal.
