Dylan

I had posted quickly over at the S.P.A.C.E blog about Dylan Williams’ passing. Watching the memorial posts pop up all over, you get a true sense of his affect on small press and the comics industry. It was immense. It was hard checking out the blogs too. I admit I went quiet a few times a post about him came up. I ran across his stuff at a SPACE show he was at. Bought most of the Reporter’s I could swing and other stuff from the Sparkplug output. I feel bad that I never got to chat up Dylan. When I first saw the Reporter cover, I immediately asked ‘have you heard of Toth?’ He smiled then I had to bounce back to my table. The covers were so strikingly simple. They’re initially what pulled me in.

I encourage everyone to please check out Sparkplug’s site and the auction currently going on to help out. I’m painfully aware how hard it is to go through something like this. Sparkplug has a solid line-up of indie and the auction boasts some really beautiful stuff. If you’re looking for recommendations, I’m especially fond of Reich, Reporter and the Orchid anthology. There’s some Jim Rugg, Porcellino, Shuga, and Renee French thrown in for good measure.
